Company · Values
ALPHA, and what each one costs.
Values are only real when they are expensive. Each of these has cost us work, and each is here because we would rather lose that work than write the other kind of report.
Five principles
What each one rules out
Read the right-hand column first. That is where each principle gets tested.
Accuracy over comfort
Every finding names the records behind it.
We cannot round a number up to make a steering meeting easier.
Long-term over quick win
We design for the upgrade after next.
We lose bids to a faster answer, regularly.
Partnership over transaction
We say when a scope should shrink.
Several of our own statements of work have got smaller.
Honesty over harmony
The uncomfortable finding goes first, not in an appendix.
It makes some conversations harder than they need to be.
Accountability over attribution
If we designed it and it fails, that is ours.
Nowhere to put the blame when it goes wrong.
The through line
Good enough is never enough.
Not as a slogan. As a working rule: if a deliverable would not survive being read by the person it describes, it is not finished.
Next step
Start with the hardest part
A short conversation about where your SAP, GIS and schedule data stop agreeing — and what it would take to bring them into line.
